Orphans in Beni
Current Situation
For many years, a grace raging in the Democratic Republic of the Congo loser war that has already cost more than six million people. One of the main cause of the battle of the mineral resources of the country is to benefit from the international corporations.
Particularly in the province of Nord-Kivu, around the town of Beni, a long life, many children, whose parents got killed in the war. Help of the state, there are hardly many orphans land on the street or be used as a “child soldiers” miss.
Our Goal
Amani Project e. V. is a orphan children in Beni, in the long term to assist with protection, education, and perspectives.
We provide:
- a safe and secure home in a residential groups
- better health care
- education for the future: secondary school, vocational training or study,
- school materials and equipment (e.g., school books, school uniform)
- durable and reliable monitoring of short-term assistance
Mum Marie – a sense of security and Confidence to give
Mum Marie is a 68-year-old widow. After the death of her husband, she decided to record children that were left on the battlefield – the children whose parents were killed in the massacres of the shake Beni for years.
In and around Beni many armed groups are active. Again and again, it is reported that this part will be financed by interests, to natural resources illegally to exploit.
During the Congo trip we met up with mom Marie for the first time, together with Mr. Rosson from Gerlingen. They lived in a simple hut near Beni, along with 16 small children. The Distress and misery, in which these children lived, have shocked us deeply.
What we already do (delivering help)
We have decided to help and improve the living conditions of the children specifically.
Currently living mom Marie with 32 children in a small house in the city of Beni. Amani Project e. V. supported by the
- Takeover of the school fees (per year)
- of school materials and equipment,
- medical aid in the case of illness and emergency situations
- , a project for the breeding of rabbits, so that the children occasionally, protein-rich food (rabbit meat) will receive
- two sewing machines (for 2021), in order for some children, early learning, clothes to sew – and so a professional perspective to develop
